We will be building 16 new homes as well as upgrading six of our existing properties in Pentre village to provide affordable and modern homes in the area.

Sarah Kirton, Senior Development Officer at Trivallis, said: “These projects show Trivallis’ commitment to providing much needed affordable homes as well as completing major property improvements.”

This particular project, which has received Social Housing grant funding, spans across Forge Lane and Llewellyn Place in Pentre. New one-bedroom properties will be developed and existing Trivallis apartments will be completely remodelled; in order to support and satisfy the need for one-bedroom accommodation in the area.

Michaela Evans, Contracts Manager at Trivallis, said: “Last year, through our estate strategy, we identified more work could be done in Pentre and evaluated our one and two-bedroom apartments in Llewellyn Place.

“It was decided, we would regenerate the building and install new windows, doors and add external wall insulation to provide high quality and modern homes, as part of our major improvements programme.”

As the former Pentre Hotel was an empty and derelict building, Trivallis’ Development team saw this as an opportunity to invest in this project as well; linking it to the organisation’s existing plans for Llewellyn Place.

This project is the first of its kind for the housing association which has worked with Rhondda Cynon Taf council, local contractors and community members to identify where and what its teams should be building and redeveloping.

“Engaging with community members, the local council and contractor partners is essential for making sure development projects like this are successful, which is why we always aim to get them involved,” explains Sarah.

“Everyone has been very supportive of the works we are planning to regenerate Pentre and we hope this new area-wide approach can be adopted elsewhere in our communities.”

Development for the Llewellyn Place and Forge Lane properties began in April 2019 and the works to demolish Pentre Hotel will begin during the summer 2019 with plans to start on site in early 2020.

Social housing grant has been awarded to the Forge Lane and Pentre Hotel developments and Trivallis will work in partnership with the local authority and Welsh government to deliver these new homes.
