Last week, local tenants and residents of Pentre were invited to take a look at the recently refurbished one- and two- bedroom apartments at Llewellyn Place.
Councillors Maureen Webber and Shelley Rees Owen popped in first thing to see the progress that was made and had a positive first impression: “It’s nice to see a building and development that is accessible, clean and modern. It looks so nice from the outside and is something the residents deserve,” explained Councillor Owen.
“This will be a benefit to the wider community and really strengthens our partnership with Trivallis.”
In total 50 people attended the open day, making the most out of the opportunity to see the transformation that has been made to the six apartments which have had new windows, doors, kitchens, bathrooms and external wall insulation installed to update the look and feel of the building.
A mixture of Trivallis staff, local residents and partners from organisations like Homefinder RCT visited. Pam Symmons, has lived opposite Llewellyn Place flats for 18 years and was surprised by what she saw: “The whole building is completely different,” she said.
“I think they are really wonderful and it’s clear to see everyone has worked so hard, they’ve done a wonderful job. This is going to be so great for the community.”
This regeneration project is the first phase of work taking place on Llewellyn Street. Earlier this year, the Trivallis Development team revealed plans to build eight one-bedroom apartments on the former Pentre Hotel site which is the neighbouring site to Llewellyn Place. The Former Pentre Hotel project will begin on site in 2020 and is likely to take 18 months to complete from start to finish.
