Trick or treat?
We’ve put together some scarily simple party snacks for everyone to enjoy this Halloween. From bloody witches’ fingers to petrified peppers, our recipes make the perfect treats to enjoy as a family or as part of a party buffet.
Petrified Peppers
Ingredients:
- 3 peppers (mixed colours)
- 500g lean turkey mince
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 onion, diced
- 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger
- 2 spring onions, thinly sliced
Method:
Preheat your oven to 175 degrees Celsius.
For the peppers, cut off the top and remove any seeds from the inside. Carefully carve some spooky faces on the front and set aside.
For the filling, add a tbsp of oil to a warm pan and add the chopped onion, garlic and ginger. Once this has started to brown, add in the turkey mince.
Spoon in the hoisin sauce and soy, stirring those into the filling until cooked through.
Once cooked, sprinkle the diced spring onions over the filling and stir.
Spoon the filling into the peppers and add those to a baking tray (a cupcake tray is a great tool to make sure the peppers don’t fall over). Cover the peppers with foil and place in the oven for 20 minutes.
Carefully remove the foil and cook for a further 10 minutes to slightly char the peppers for a spooky finish.
