The winners of Trivallis’ sheltered scheme quiz competition and gardening competition have been announced.
Trivallis has 23 sheltered housing schemes available to people over the age of 60 throughout Rhondda Cynon Taff.
Chris Thomas, care and support service development co-ordinator at Trivallis, said: “The quiz final was close run between Summerdale Close and Fanheulog, with Fanheulog having a great final round to come back pip Summerdale by 1 point.”
The final scores were: Summerdale 43 and Fanheulog 44.
Earlier in the year colleagues from Trivallis visited sheltered scheme gardens to judge the annual gardening competition.
The categories for the competition were ‘best use of space’ and ‘best overall garden’.
The winners were announced and presented with certificates at a celebration event in Trivallis’ pontypridd offices:
Best Use of Space
1st – Gwaunruperra Close
Runner Up – Park View Close
Best Overall Garden
1st – Trem Y Cwm
Runner Up – Nebo
Chris added: “We couldn’t have put these competitions on without the help and support of our partners, Delta Wellbeing and JLA.
“The tenants are already talking about what they are going to do next year, and we hope to be able to continue with the competition. Things like this go such a long way to help combat loneliness and social isolation amongst our older tenants, and we are already seeing the benefits after this year.”
