Are you looking for ideas on how to spend your Summer? Want to enjoy lots of fun activities but still stick to a budget? We have you covered.
As part of our Time for Summer campaign, we wanted to provide you with fun days out for all the family that will cost you very little or are free to do. Check out our suggestions, below:
Make a splash
Throughout the Summer holidays, those aged 16 and under can swim for free as well as their accompanying parents or carers, during certain times. Find your local leisure centre in RCT or Cardiff to access more information.
Picnic at the park
Pack your favourite snacks and a blanket and head to your nearest park for a fun day out in the sunshine. If you want to visit a new park, take a look at what local parks are near you in RCT or Cardiff for a change of scenery.
Sunny day? Roll up your beach towels, grab the sun cream, pack the buckets and spades and head to the beach for the day. Don’t forget to stay safe, check out our Summer safety tips, here. Need help getting there? Keep reading this blog to find out about Summer bus fares and routes that will take you directly to the beach.
Summer of Smiles
Up until 29th August, Cardiff will be hosting a children and young people’s festival, Summer of Smiles. With daily activities including creative and arts, play and family fun, science and technology, and sport and adventure. You can find out more information and book tickets for a small fee, here.
Have fun and learn
Museums are a great day out for all the family and are typically free to enter. National Museum Cardiff and St Fagans National Museum of History are both free, but you will need to pre-book a free ticket for a time slot entry due to COVID-19 guidelines by visiting their websites. Please be aware that there is a charge for using the carpark at St Fagans.
If you rely on public transport to travel, throughout the Summer holidays there are certain promotions running to save you money and extra bus routes to help you travel with ease. Find out what each bus company is offering, below:
NAT Group Bus – Extended their 404 bus service to provide a direct route to Porthcawl for those in the valleys throughout the Summer. Fine out more, here.
