
We want you to enjoy your summer without having to spend a lot. We’ve pulled together some information on free or low cost events that are happening and places that you can visit, that are all local to you.
National Museum Cardiff – Cardiff Central
Visit the museum for free and take a trip through history. There is something for everyone to enjoy at the museum, from dinosaurs to art galleries, to everything in between.
Cardiff Bay Barrage – Cardiff Bay
Walk from Cardiff Bay through to the Cardiff Bay Barrage, with great views and activities to do on your way. Great for getting those steps in or for taking in the sights around Cardiff Bay.
St Fagan’s National Museum of History – outskirts of Cardiff
Learn all about the history of Wales by visiting St Fagans and learn about the lives of those who once lived in the buildings. Take a picnic and spend the day exploring homes, the scenery, the castle, and grounds. There’s even animals and crafts for you to enjoy. It’s a great day out for all ages and it’s free to enter but you will need to pay to park.
Bute Park – Cardiff Central
Bute Park is located right in the heart of Cardiff and is a great place to enjoy a spot of lunch, explore nature and even visit the visitor centre. If you’re looking for somewhere to enjoy the sunshine, head to Bute Park and spend the day relaxing.
Victoria Park – Canton
If you’re looking for something for all the family, Victoria Park has you covered. There is a children’s playground and splashpad, with plenty of areas to walk around and explore. Take along a picnic and spend the day enjoying the facilities that the park has to offer.
Penarth Pier Pavilion – Penarth
Just a short distance from Cardiff Bay, you will find the Pier Pavillion in Penarth that offers lots of events and activities. Take a walk along the front and pier, soaking in the sea air or walk down onto the beach that is located next to the pier.
Wales Millennium Centre – Cardiff Bay
Although many of the performances that take place here require tickets to be bought, the building is free to enter and look around. There are also free activities, performances and crafts that often take place in the lobby area. If you’re looking for something different, for everyone to enjoy, pop in.
Libraries and Hubs – Cardiff
Your local library or hub has lots taking place for you to explore, from craft clubs to baby groups, to coffee mornings and more. These locations are there to provide free or low cost services to help and support you but also provide great places to head during the summertime to try a new skill or meet with others.
