We want you to enjoy your summer without having to spend a lot. We’ve pulled together some information on free or low cost events that are happening and places that you can visit, that are all local to you.
The Big Welsh Bite – Pontypridd
There will be lots of food and fun taking place on 05 and 06 August at Ynysangharad War Memorial Park in Pontypridd. Trivallis will have a stall there, so come along and have a chat with members of our team. The park also makes for a great day out with big open fields, an onsite café and a great park for the little ones to enjoy, all located right next to the Lido Pontypridd.
Aberdare Park – Aberdare
With big open green spaces, a park, a pond, some ducks, a café and more, this park is great if you want to get out of the house with the kids or want to enjoy a quiet stroll in nature. There’s plenty to enjoy and great for all ages.
Barry Sidings – Pontypridd
A great place for a walk using the trails that take you into the surrounding mountains. With an adventure playground, loads of open space, a duck pond and a café, Barry Sidings Countryside Park is a winner for all ages and even dogs.
Lido Ponty – Pontypridd
With three pools – a main pool, an activity pool and a splash pool – all heated to 28 degrees, Lido Ponty offers fantastic swimming opportunities for people of all ages and abilities. If you want to visit the Lido, it comes at a small cost but there is lots to enjoy for the price you pay.
Dare Valley Country Park – Aberdare
From a Gravity Family Bike Park to an adventure playground, to a place to enjoy the lakes and surrounding mountains, there is plenty to do here. It’s a place for everyone to enjoy and a great tourist attraction in the area.
Clydach Vale Countryside Park – Near Tonypandy
You can take a walk around the lake at the bottom, feed the ducks and stop for a bite to eat. Then if you walk up towards the top of the hill, you will find another lake to admire. It’s
great if you want to get those steps in!
Free Swimming – RCT
Throughout the Summer holidays, swimming pools across Rhondda Cynon Taf offer free swimming sessions throughout the week at different times. You can find out more information here: Choose a Centre (rctcbc.gov.uk)
Libraries and Hubs – RCT
Your local library or hub has lots taking place for you to explore, from craft clubs to baby groups, to coffee mornings and more. These locations are there to provide free or low cost services to help and support you but also provide great places to head during the summertime to try a new skill or meet with others.
