Building new homes is no small task. Our project teams work hard to make sure we can offer homes, apartments and flats to tackle the lack of affordable homes in our communities.
What we’re building now
Pentre Hotel, Llewellyn Street, Pentre
Our partners, RCT County Borough Council, have identified that there is a need for one bedroom flats in Pentre. We are building eight new one bedroom flats for social rent on the former Pentre Hotel, Llewellyn Street site.
The flats will be built with the help of the Welsh Government’s Social Housing Grant as we are meeting the current social need in the area.
Crown Avenue, Treorchy
Crown Avenue is a decommissioned sheltered scheme, which has been empty for several years.
Working in partnership with RCTCBC, planning permission has been granted for the building to be redeveloped into a supported housing scheme for adults with learning disabilities.
This scheme will provide much needed independent living for adults with learning disabilities in the Rhondda. Each customer will have their own flat with a kitchen and bathroom.
There will also be a refurbished communal lounge for activities and social interaction and 24-hour support on site, delivered by a third-party provider on behalf of RCTCBC.
This scheme will improve both the quality of independent living options for adults with a learning disability. There will also be one flat for respite care, contributing to the wellbeing of not only those living within the scheme, but also those living within the community.
Trivallis will work closely with RCTCBC to engage with customers living at the scheme to understand the social impact of the facility. This work will also ensure partnership opportunities for future projects are explored.
R&M Williams, a building group established in 1965, have been selected as the contractor who will take forward the scheme. They have undertaken similar projects to this for both Trivallis and other social housing providers.
The Former Black Lion and Exchange, Aberdare
This project consists of the refurbishment of both the Black Lion and Exchange buildings in Aberdare town centre.
The scheme incorporates retail space on the ground floor with apartments created above. Trivallis’ part of the scheme will deliver 18 one- and two-bedroom apartments for affordable rent, with good access to all amenities.
The project has been funded using Social Housing Grant and is being constructed by TEDs Developments.
Forge Lane, Pentre
Through a package deal with local developers Weston Contractors, Trivallis will be utilising a brownfield site in Pentre to deliver 8 new one – bedroom apartments.
Appletree Avenue, Dinas
Once complete, the development will provide 14 new one- and two-bedroom affordable flats.
The development at Appletree Avenue will be constructed on the site of two large blocks of maisonettes that were demolished in 2016.
WRW has been appointed as the main contractor and works have started on site.
Llantrisant School, Llantrisant
We are partnering with LCB Construction to deliver 18 new homes at the former Welsh Language Primary School in Llantrisant. This will involve a mix of 3×2 bed houses, 6×2 bed flats, 8×1 bed flats and 1 x 2 bed adapted bungalow.
The project team are: LCB Construction, Strongs Partnership, LRM Planning, Tony King Architects and Hydrock.
The scheme is being delivered using Social Housing Grant in partnership with RCTCBC and Welsh Government.
