Major Improvement Programme

In December 2012 Trivallis celebrated a major milestone when it achieved the Welsh Housing Quality Standard. This is the benchmark that the Welsh Government said tenants’ homes should reach by the end of 2012.

Our teams of surveyors visited more than 10,000 homes to make an individual assessment of every one. They found that the total amount of work needed to ensure all tenants’ homes met the Standard would be even greater than originally thought. The task was made even more challenging when the largest contractor working on the programme went bust in 2010.

Despite these challenges Trivallis invested more than £140 million in bringing all 10,000 homes up to the high standard. It enabled Trivallis to become one of only five providers of social housing in the whole of Wales to meet the Welsh Housing Quality Standard by the end of 2012.

In the spring of 2013, Trivallis took the unprecedented step of writing to every tenant offering them the chance to challenge our assessment that their home met the standard. So far, we have identified only 14 homes out of more than 10,000 where significant new work had to be scheduled.

The refurbishment of tenants’ homes has not stopped. Millions of pounds will be invested in a planned maintenance programme every year to keep tenants’ homes up to the standard.

Our work doesn’t stop here

We will continue to fit new kitchens and bathrooms, update central heating and electrical systems, replace doors and windows and improve insulation in tenants’ homes year in, year out.

If your home has not yet received any refurbishment work, it does not mean that we have forgotten about you.

Following our surveyor’s inspection, your home will have been fitted into a schedule of work that stretches many years into the future.
