Trivallis Community Fun Day 2017

Trivallis’ Community Funday is a FREE event for all the family.

With a kids zone, food stalls, activities and an area specially dedicated to celebrating the 100th birthday of Dame Vera Lynn, there will be something to appeal to all ages.

Trivallis Community Fun Day

Where? Ynysangharad Park, Pontypridd

When? Friday, 28th July (10.30am-3.30pm)

Hopefully we will have sunshine, but if it rains there will be plenty of room to shelter and take part in indoor activities.

So whatever the weather on Friday the 28th of July, you are sure to have a fun-packed day.

This year’s highlights include:

  • Children’s entertainment
  • Vera Lynne themed entertainment for older tenants
  • Lots of information about Trivallis and local services
  • The GTFM Radio roadshow

Kids Zone

As usual, there will be fun for children of all ages at the Fun Day including a 9 hole mini golf course, zorbing, a bouncy castle, inflatable disco dome, soft play, an inflatable obstacle course, animal characters, a photo booth and a 25ft inflatable mega slide.

Trivallis’ Ziggies and Go4it! teams will be there for art, craft, story time sessions and a mini Olympics to keep kids busy. There will also be parent and child cooking classes throughout the day

Pets’ Corner

Back again this year will be the popular Pets’ Corner where you will be able to handle a cute furry friend – including guinea pigs, rabbits and even reptiles and creepy crawlies. Mike’s Donkeys will also be back with free donkey rides for little ones.

Radio station GTFM will be at the Fun Day with their road show to keep everyone entertained all day.

There will also be a themed entertainment marquee for older tenants, celebrating the 100th birthday of Dame Vera Lynn. Throughout the day there will be a quiz, a best dressed competition and Helen Enser Morgan will be singing songs from Dame Vera Lynn’s career.

Info Zone

As well as it being full of fun, you can get information about all of Trivallis’ services at the Fun Day.

You can speak to staff from Trivallis about services for your home and your community. You can also find out about the volunteering and training opportunities available.

Local organisations and partner organisations will also be there including South Wales Police, The South Wales Fire Service, RCT Council and Tenovus.

Food & Drink

You will be able to buy hot food, snacks and ice cream from a range of stalls throughout the day.

How to get there

The Fun Day will take place near the tennis court area of Ynysangharad Park. The closest entry point is located on Taff Street, Pontypridd.

To make it nice and easy for you, Trivallis has arranged for free buses to take visitors to the Fun Day from all parts of Rhondda Cynon Taff. The timetable can be found in the next issue of Roof Top magazine and below. All you need to do is find the departure time from the pick-up point nearest to your home and turn up on the day!

The buses will make the return journey at 3.30pm. Special transport will be organised for residents of Trivallis’ sheltered housing schemes. Please ask your scheme co-ordinator for details.

Please note that you will not be able to park in Ynysangharad Park on the day and, if you are driving, you will need to use a nearby car park. So, why not leave the car at home and come on the bus!

Welsh Government Regulatory Judgement for 2017 released

The Regulatory Judgement released by the Welsh Government illustrates that Trivallis has demonstrated that it has the financial capability to cope with a range of scenarios that could face the sector.  The judgement also highlights areas that Trivallis will be working on with the regulator over the next few months to achieve further improvements.

The Welsh Government’s annual judgement is designed to provide Trivallis, its tenants, service users and other stakeholders with an understanding of its financial viability and how well it is performing, at a specific moment in time and is seen as the key measure of performance within the housing sector in Wales.

Trivallis is one of Wales’ largest registered social landlords and has undergone a significant period of service improvement in the last year which has included taking a fresh look at services, the structure of the organisation and the priorities for its future.

Key to achieving our priorities is the recruitment of two senior appointments over the summer, which will enable the organisation to push forward with its vision to be trusted, open and an inspiring organisation that changes people’s lives and communities for the better. Trivallis is currently recruiting for a new Board Chair to succeed Claire Jones when her 10 year term comes to an end in September, and a new Chief Executive.

Interim Chief Executive, Adrian Barber said “We believe that today’s judgement is a fair reflection of where Trivallis currently is on its journey and I am pleased to share our financial position which gives us a strong base to achieve our ambitions going forward.

“In the coming year we will look forward to building on this review, working closely with the regulation team, and strengthening our approach to governance starting with the appointment of a new Board Chair and Chief Executive who share both our vision and passion for the organisation.

Core to everything we do here at Trivallis is our customers, and I am confident that our plans will mean we can continue to provide them with high quality homes and place them at the heart of everything we do.”
